Celebrating Our First 100 Episodes of The Pay Play Profit Podcast

If you think running a podcast is easy, well, it’s not. Launching a podcast is just half of the battle. The other half is making sure we’re releasing something valuable each week, and that requires a lot of dedication. That’s why it pays to have a partner who can keep us accountable. As they say, “it takes a village” – and that includes producing a podcast too. We believe partnerships fuel transformation.

100 Episodes

On September 13, 2022, we launched our 100th episode of our Pay Play Profit Podcast. Here at The Bottom Line®, we’re always celebrating our wins, big and small and for us, this was a big win.

The Pay Play Profit Podcast officially aired the first episode on April 2, 2022 before we knew what was going to happen and how our lives were going to be forever changed. We've kept it alive through the pandemic and now into the endemic.

We have actually had two different versions of our podcast. Profit Path Podcast was one version and the other version was CPA In Your Corner. We have come a long way since then.

Partnerships Fuel Transformation

What really helped us to be where we are today with Celebrating our 100th episode is having the right partner in place. We cannot celebrate that without putting Danny Ozment and his team Emerald City Productions right in the middle of the conversation.

I remember Danny flying in with his black bag and a microphone. I was so nervous about getting those first two or three episodes done. Danny pushed to get the first five episodes done while he was in and I was like, I’ve never sat down and done the first five of anything. We even had one of our team members, Ashley Newman, fly in and we recorded our episodes in Marilyn’s basement.

TBL Team Advice

If you’re thinking about launching a podcast, buckle up and be ready for the long game. There’s no motivation like paying for something and not using it.

Be consistent and don't be too aggressive with your commitment at first. Don’t let the first couple of stats from those first episodes get you down. Keep the why of why you started this journey and keep that front and center. Stats may not be the motivator in the beginning that you need.

Digging Into The Data

At the time that we recorded our 100th episode, we had 94 episodes that were live. And at that time, our total number of downloads was 9,650. We have been averaging about 103 downloads per episode. But what really matters is how many downloads we have in the first 7 days after airing our episodes.

The first 7 days are the most important because it shows you how engaged your listeners are. This is just downloads and not listens, those are different metrics. I was surprised to learn that actually the minimum downloads that you wanna see in the first seven days of airing is 28. And that tells you, you have a decently engaged audience.

Over the last 4 episodes that we had, we averaged about 46 per episode. Our goal is 50.

Top 5 Episodes

Our top episode surprised me but it does show us what our audience is most interested in. Here are our top 5 podcast episodes of all time at the time we recorded our 100th episode.

Favorite Episodes

There's a lot of good memories recording our podcast episodes. One of our favorites is our Thanksmas episode. We had our whole team on the episode and shared some laughs, stories and more laughs.

These are our favorite episodes that I want to encourage you to go listen to if you have not.
