3 Things You Want from Your Business:
Pay, Play, and Profit

As business owners, the business needs to serve us but it's not going to serve us unless we solve the problems of paying ourselves, playing (which a lot of business owners miss), and profiting which gives us those experiences that we really want.

Pay Yourself

There’s this common thinking among business owners that,

“I'm going to delay pay until the big thing happens because this is an investment. I need to worry about growing my topline and getting all the sales and getting everything right. Then eventually, the business will actually pay me and take care of me.”

Hard fact? You will only be delaying pay forever!

Your business needs to serve you now.

Start with even just 1%.

If you don't practice the behavior of paying yourself first then the idea that eventually pay will happen is really much harder to grasp. You're not going to stay in the game when you're not getting paid.

Play

You deserve time off or time away from the business but a lot of business owners struggle with this. Sometimes, this is attributed to the pay too because there's an excuse you can't play because you can't afford a vacation.

Therefore, make a plan to keep yourself in a place of creativity so you're able to show up for your business to create the most impact without destroying yourself in the process.

You don't need a lot of money to play or a huge bank account. Play can be very simple. It needs to be about you and what you enjoy, what lifts you up, and what builds you up.

Profit

You have to create profit for your business so all your dreams of pay and vacation could actually happen.

But a lot of business owners make the mistake of chasing their top line revenue as a metric when you should actually be chasing your bottom line (after all the expenses) as that’s where profit comes from.
